I'm very new to hosting a web server, so please excuse my ignorance.
I'm trying to use Abyss Web Server X1 as a simple web-based file server for downloading media files to remote locations (work, etc.) in an attempt to work around my ISP's throttling of FTP. Basically I'm just listing a directory of files that I would like to password protect. I have had no problems reaching my address from any computers, and I can download unprotected files.
Here's my problem: I've tried setting Access Control to prompt for user/pass when users attempt to download files and it always prompts, but it always get stuck in some kind of authentication loop. I have the same problem whether I'm using FF or IE7, no matter what computer I'm trying to download the files to.
How can I set Access Control to prompt once, validate, and then begin downloading without getting stuck in a loop asking for user/pass forever? |
