Anybody tried this.
If I configure abyss x2 2.5 hosting 5 domains to use the same log file, will it work ok or will their be problems, like file sharing?
It would be nice to just have to view one log file instead of all 5.
Thanks,

I don't see why this shouldn't be an issue. Give it a go and see what happens. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

x2 is up and running and getting it configured for the domains.
Wasn't sure if it would crash or not but went ahead and tried it and seems to be doing fine.
I have the access.log file on a screen in baretail and can watch access to all five websites now in one file. It updates automaticly at the bootom of the window. Only after the file has been downloaded though.
I also use peerguardian and believe me you wouldn't believe how many hits a website gets a day from large corporations making indexes for their search engines to make their millions. Peerguardian must block 400 hits a day from them and saves me a lot of bandwidth.
Typical corporations, making money off other peoples work and effort. Everyone complains of email spam, but only half of mine comes from individuals. The other half comes from large corporations that hire the dirty work out to 3rd party smucks to sell their products. They insulate themselves from negitive public opinion by doing it that way.
Some of those search indexes actually download files and will suck you dry.
In addition I use IP Traffic Monitor. Lets me see all the download managers and their multiple connections. If I want I can add their IP to Peerguardian and block them.
As I get more of x2 configured I won't have to do as much to block and regulate this stuff. |

Blocking search engines is not worth doing. Not only do you not get your site indexed but you lose customers or hits because people don't know your site exists, and they can't search for anything from it on search engines. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

I know, but I don't really need them for my websites and I don't have anything I want them to search with their engines.
I have had them use up to 1/2 of my 1 meg dsl bandwidth. |
