I have an ajax whois package that works fine on test sites http://recessions.co.uk/ However when i load the package to my home server http://optimated.com/namesearch.html it will not work. I have followed the instructions herehttp://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/asp.html to the letter but still no joy.

Be gentle please ;-)

Please be more detailed. "It won't work" doesn't explain much.
List errors, 404s, page not found, etc.

There are no instructions on that page.

What is this ajax package you are trying to use?

Sorry i was a bit hasty with my post and screwed up the links. I have found that it works ok in firefox but not in ie. There is an error code, C00CE56E, which when googled tells me to........Change the character encoding string in the relevant Java server environment from "ISO8859_1" to "ISO-8859-1"

I viewed http://optimated.com/namesearch.html in both IE7 and Firefox.
It worked fine with no errors. Are you still having problems?

Your source code shows that it is set to charset=iso-8859-1.

The loading gif does its bit and then an error pops up on the status bar as shown.

Sorry Steve, I don't have asp installed on my server, so I can't test the script out.
Hopefully, Aprelium (or anyone) can shed some light on this when they sign on.

burfieldstuff,

The error looks like a bug in the script code (or at least an interoperability problem with IE and probably some old browsers). Try contacting its author for help.

interoperability

I like that word :-)

I have a feeling that i may have configured something wrong, i will do a complete re-install of the whole server and addons. The appliance works ok on a couple of windows sites i have (using the same files)
h**p://www.sodyellowpages.com/ and http://recessions.co.uk/ (my test site) but not on my home server http://optimated.com/namesearch.html ....btw i liked the word "optimated" too so i bought it, but it doesnt exist in any dictionary unlike "interoperability" , i checked ;-)
