Is there a way to run Frontpage server extensions on Abyss? I'd LOVE to do away with using IIS on my machine. Too many hangups and security holes there. |

It is possible to run Frontpage without its extensions. You'll have to look into the Frontpage manual to find out more about how not to rely heavily on it, how to publish without it.
The security behind IIS only falls onto the lap of the individual who is in charge of administrating it. In other words IIS is very secure and very stable and 99% of its vulnerability is because the person administrating it allows it or is not that knowledgable in working with it.
Same goes for Abyss. Good luck :) _________________ Victor B. Gonzalez

My problem with the extensions though is that I host a few small sites for friends. They use the extensions in order to run forums and feedback forms that they have created using Frontpage 2000. The pages are created at their machines and they publish them through Frontpage and onto my server.
Will Abyss handle this? |

I do not believe Abyss at the moment has any support for Frontpage extensions as it is a personal web server which also doesn't support publishing to it through FTP. It is more geared towards personal projects but hopefully by the last quarter of 2003 we see some major changes as promised...
Abyss is super easy and fantasticly secured out of the box... Just at the moment I do not believe Front Page extensions are available or even planned. Best bet is wait on what Aprelium has to say as he/she is more into the development process than anyone else on these forums...
Maybe make a suggestion in the suggestions forums and wait for what Apreliums official input on this matter.
Good luck :) _________________ Victor B. Gonzalez
