Hi,
Can anyone suggest the best Statistics package under Mac OS X? AWStats seems good, but most of the stuff here deals with Windows installs. Can anyone run me through a Mac OS X Install?

Ian McPherson,
AWStats should install fine on OS X by following the directions on their site regarding installing AWStats on a Unix system ( http://awstats.sourceforge.net/docs/awstats_setup.html ).
Note that the instructions for the Windows systems are also useful for installing AWStats on Mac OS X provided that you use the right path names according to what you have on your hard drive. Actually since AWstats is written in Perl, there is nothing (almost) that is OS specific with it. _________________ Support Team

Hi,
I have downloaded the package and I will install it. I was just hoping someone else had done it on Mac OS X already, as it is a complex package for a newbie.
Given the way that Abyss installs, the configuration would be the same for every Mac OS X machine, barring the actual name of the primary Hard Drive in the code. So, in theory, if someone had done it and archived the install, it could be easily duplicated on any Mac OS X machine.
No such luck though :(

Ian McPherson,
There is nothing Mac OS X dependent in AWStats since it relies on Perl. All the paths are relative to your web site root. _________________ Support Team

I have tried others, but keep coming back to Summary (http://summary.net). It is not free; however, it is very good and MUCH easier to install and configure. |
