|
|
I have three questions,
1) I am getting troubled because I want to start offering hosting and don't really understand how to integrate a control panel onto my site.
2) Next, how do you make subdomains once you have purchased your domain name. I imagine that you need the control panel for this?
3) Is there any tutorials for how to log onto my ftp server?
Thanks,

The current hosting control panels like cPanel and zPanel do not fully work with Abyss since they cannot edit its configuration file, but many other things do work on it.
Subdomains are a mixture of the DNS settings on your domain and the webserver understanding the request from a subdomain. Abyss takes care of subdomains with Virtual Hosting (VHOSTS). All you do it type in the subdomain name along with your domain name, eg "forum.yourdomain.com" and then put "forum" as a CNAME/A Record in your DNS settings pointing to your server and from there you should have a working subdomain.
FTP is very simple to log onto. First download a client like FileZilla FTP, and enter the log on details into the boxes. eg, your URL would be your domain name or IP address, the username is that specified in the servers settings, as is the password. The port is by standard 21 but this could be different if your ISP blocks 21 (so you would have ste it up on a different port) _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

I am using the following info for Filezilla FTP:
Address: "just my ip or domain name"
Username: "my username in abyss console login"
Password: "my password in abyss console login"
Port: 21 because I have checked and my ISP does not block this port.
I did all of this and yet it did not work. Anything else!
So there no control panels out there for Abyss.....
If I was to switch to Apache...are there any for that that are good for beginners...
Help!

It helps to have a FTP server to connect to, I assume you haven't set one up. Abyss isn't a FTP server, so you will need external software. I recommend FileZilla FTP Server (not the client, that's what you connect to a server with). _________________ -Blake | New Server :D
