I was rather bored earlier and i wanted to do something so i decided to create a website for abyss powered websites.. i know trustabyss has a directory full of them but my site is slighty different.. btw the first 3 sites on the main page were me testing so if you don't want them there aprelium, abyssunderground and trustabyss then just say and i will remove them asap.

thanks, yeah it is a shame but i'm thinking about removing a site what needs apache and saving up for x2 version :)

Whats wrong with hosting it on your server? Its at home isnt it? If not, im sure you could persuade me to host it for you if you wanted :-)

i don't have the paid version so can only host 1 site on my home pc.. the abyss-websites site is on a windows vps, 100mbit port, anyway i think i'll let the website what needs apache die out and save up for the paid version of abyss so i can host my other 2 sites aswell :)

If its on a VPS can you not install Abyss? A proper VPS should have root access.

yes i can install abyss but i need to be able to create virtualhosts and x1 don't do that so i'll need x2 which at the moment i can't afford so i'll need to save up for it.

No, unless you have Moderators to keep an eye on the user comments. SPAM
can be posted anywhere. Guestbooks, Forums, Chats etc.

I would stick with the user rating thing more.

i'll trial a shoutbox for a month or so and see how it goes, it has a control panel so i can remove unwanted messages and i'll be able to ban the ips of those unwanted messages if i need to.

Can I suggest you thumbnail the snapshots of the sites. 50KB per image is very high. You could get that down to about 7KB with a compressed JPEG.

Alright all website screenshots have now been changed to jpeg, they have been resized and compressed as best as i can do without loosing the quality.

Size of the site before the change was 2.65mb
The size is now 893kb

Ouch! You've broken the site in FF. Not tried in IE. The new "Page X" images have made the screenshots shoot off to the right.

Quick update: I have added a comments script which will let anyone comment on the websites which are listed on the site. Just have to finish rest of the pages off and test them then i can let people comment.

Abyss-websites.com has had a total revamp. I re-designed the site from scratch.

What's working/new features?

Information about site including server version and type
Direct download link for X1 at top of page
Rating script for each site
Wiki - you could tell what hardware your server is running, a little info about yourself and hobbies, how your cat's doing... Just no profanity or vulgar language.
Automatic inclusion of your site through a form (no waiting for your site to be listed!)

What's not yet working?

The request thumbnail script. Not yet created.

Site "issues":

IE6 doesn't render the background gradient properly, so I had to tweak the bg color slightly. Does the gradient look right in IE7?

In the works:

Server history - shows version of server for dates when server update link is requested
Sorting script - will sort the entries by server version, X1/X2, rating...

The site was re-designed from scratch, so sites listed under the old design are no longer here.
