				| I am Having an issue with the Web Server finding my index file. I have pointed the exact path to the location of the index file, but I continue to get "ERROR 403 - Forbidden", when attempting http://streitz.servebeer.com. I can get directly yo the index file by http://streitz.servebeer.com/index.html. Is anyone else having this issue? Any Help is appreciated. Thanks. _________________

				| thats wierd, try setting your domain to point to http://streitz.servebeer.com/ (i added a forward slash on the end).
That was it should search for a file in the root directory, and should find the index file if you have Abyss setup correctly.

i suggest launching Abyss - going to the control panel - finding the CGI parameters place, then entering checking that index.html is added to the list... it may be that just .htm is added...

are you sure that index.html is listed in the Index File names table in server parameters? If not, and if automatic directory listing is off, error 403 occurs.

				| I'm having a similar problem to this. The company which owns my domain forwards it to a DNS server, which then re-directs it to my computer, this all worked fine up until yesterday when I tried monkeying around with it.
Recently my computer and modem have been borking with annoying regularity, so I decided to take advantage of the DNS servers' offline redirection service.

To do this I had to change the URL forwarding, and remove the trailing /index.html, now I cannot get the server to serve the index.html page as default. I get an error 404, and have had to put a 0 second redirect from the 404 page to my home page - not ideal. I have listed index.html in the INDEX portion of the console, and there are no other index files there to confuse it.

 Can anyone help? :?

				| Okay, the DNS server wasn't putting a trailing / on the end of the URL, so I created an alias with / as the virtual path, and c:\program files\abyss web server\htdocs/ as the real path, and now it works. :D | |
