All the files that will be accessed from the web server go in your htdocs folder
that should be located in C:\Program Files\Abyss Abyss Server\ , now all you
have to do is build your website and put it online for friends/family.

In FrontPage, save your site files inside the htdocs/ subdirectory located inside the installation directory of Abyss Web Server.
We recommend also reading http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/faq.html#A1-4 and http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/faq.html#A1-5 .

You have to find out your IP Address from www.aprelium.com/ip/ and then you
have to configure your Firewall/Router for Abyss to have access to the internet
and then all thats left to do is link to it using http://Your-IP-Address/

Note: Visit no-ip.com for a domain name if you don't want to use your IP to
access your website , its that easy. Dyndns.org is also a good place to go.

First of all, it's called "Frontpage", not "Front page".
And why are you using that Microsoft-shit?

Does the spelling matter? =S
There arnt really any (I hesitate on saying this) decent editors out there for non-HTML-litterete people.
Without having some decent money, frontpage is about your best bet.

writing the code from scratch is best. Jus steal the source code of gogle and other sites edit them learn html. Or you can pay for a class. If you don't want to learn then use Nvu or Quanta Plus.

For WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editing, I recommend this free software I use - CutePage. It was released as freeware. SourceTec no longer offers it, but you can get it here.

heres how i do things:

1. go to C:\Program Files\Abyss Web Server\
2. right click and click sendto->desktop (as shortcut)
3. go to the desktop and rename the folder (something like htdocs or abyss ECT..)
(the above steps will put a link to the htdocs folder on the desktop so you can edit files from the desktop without going to C:\ECT....... while leaving the htdocs in the abyss folder so abyss server can access it)

4. make the index file with frontpage (i dont know the extension i use CSS and HTML)
5. save the file and put it into the folder on the desktop
6. MAKE SURE THE SERVER IS RUNNING
7. go to 127.0.0.1:CONSOLE PORT
8. click configure host
9. go to index files
10. index.FRONTPAGE EXTENSION
11. restart server
12. MAKE SURE THE HOST IS RUNNING
13. go to 127.0.0.1 and make sure your index file shows

as for using frontpage, im on linux so youll have to ask around :D

mozilla composer is a pretty good wysiwyg editor. its really simple. you can get it from their website, mozilla.org. I used it until I got dreamweaver...studio 8 is soo nice...and I got it for $200 instead of its msrp of $999

Hand coding will always be better. You get the satisfaction of making something rather than getting a program to do it for you.

True....for beginners or hobbyists.
But, when you become more experienced and have 5 or 6 clients wanting their
website "yesterday", it's good to use an app that speeds up your productivity.

That could help in some cases but if its your job and your getting paid for it, satisfaction doesnt come into it as much so an automatic one would be better. If it simply is a hobby or for a personal thing then hand coding would be better.
