|
|
The Drupal database schema will not load into MySQL!!
Having entered my password in the MySQL monitor cmd line, I enter:
Open quote:
mysql -u myusername -p drupal < database/database.4.1.mysql;
Close quote
as instructed, it just moves down to the next line showing:
Open quote:
->
Close quote.
The database hasn't loaded!
There is obviously something else I am supposed to do here, but I can't see what?
Reading all of the message boards and instructions isn't helping.
PLEASE HELP, I've been setting everything up for four days now and I have been stuck on this for two of them!
This is almost becoming painful.
This is what I'm using:
XP with:
Abyss Web Server X1,
Drupal-4.7.2,
MySQL Server 5.0
MySQL Administrator 1.1.9
and
Php4.4.2.
Thanks in advance. :cry: |

Try removing the ; at the end of the line and replace / with \. Does it work now?
If not, we suggest installing PhpMyAdmin and upload the mysql schema file from there. With PhpMyAdmin you have more explicit error messages (if any). _________________ Support Team

hi, foti. i am an avid (ab)user of drupal+abyss.
that command is meant to be run at your OS's command prompt and not inside the mysql environment space. if you're using windows, open up a command prompt and add the location of your mysql executable to your PATH environment setting. usually it's at "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\bin". this makes mysql.exe available anywhere. then change directory to your drupal folder and issue that command in your command prompt, replacing "database/database.4.1.mysql" with "database\database.4.1.mysql" as aprelium has pointed out if you're using windows. don't forget to remove that semicolon ";" at the end.
i hope this helps. pm me if you need further assistance. i'm hoping to see more drupal+abyss users in here. _________________

|
I've tried following the advice here (I ran it in XP's command prompt and in the one that comes as an option with MySQL administrator), but it's just one problem after another with this stuff.....
Thanks so much for all the help, but I've given up and uninstalled everything.
I've wasted two weeks during which I would have been better off teaching myself RSS, PHP, Javascripting and so on.
So, that's what I'm going to have to do now, since this is just WAY TOO USER-UNFRIENDLY for me!
Sorry, maybe I'll come back when I've regained the will to live.
Thanks for being so kind and patient, and best of luck to anyone who is new to this!
Bye. |
