Since my website gets, well, next to no visitors, I'm looking for a few opinions on a script I'm writing, It can be located here with the following info:
URL:http://davehope.digitalrice.com/Demo/Manager/Default.asp
User:DemoUser@Demo.com
Pass:test
Comments/Suggestions appreciated, it'll be a download system whereby lets's say "Mr X" donates $50 to your site, you could then reward "Mr X" by giving him access to a secure downloads section, or for any other use that someone would want.... ;) Of course it'll be avaliable free, I'm just wanting a few suggestions first. Thanks guys/galls! _________________ Any information contained herein is provided in "as is" condition without any guarantee for its accuracy, contains no warrantees - express or implied - and confers no rights.

Well, I must say that your idea of such a script is pretty original!!!!
And the coding too!!! Although th "Delete User" button was disabled, I assume you did that on purpose.... Don't want anyone messing up your script, right?
The script itself is easy to navigate and really easy to use! That is a major plus for it, since it will become a "Hot script" soon after people start using it!!!
Great job Dave, hope to see more great scripts from you!!!
PS:If I can be of any help, don't hesitate to contact me, either here or at my site's forum... _________________ Simple...fast...free..... |

Sup Dave, I tried logging in on Sunday March 23, 2003 at 4:31AM and it kept giving me a Login Error...
I tried copying and pasting the user name to completely writing it in both with suggested case and lower case... No go... Password was easy enough to type in...
Did you lock the script down on purpose? I'd like to see it. Thanks :) _________________ Victor B. Gonzalez

someone seems to have reset the password, grr.... the logins are as follows:
Login 1:
sam@sam.com
sam
Login2:
DemoUser@Demo.com
Login3:
someone@somewhere.com
test
One of those should work... _________________ Any information contained herein is provided in "as is" condition without any guarantee for its accuracy, contains no warrantees - express or implied - and confers no rights.

I got it to work with the ID "someone". I checked it out and think you've got the ability to take it somewhere and a few people for a nice ride... Keep it up, IM, PM or email me when you add some new features, I'll be happy to test it out for ya :)
I think I also know why some logins don't work... You can also add the ID "someone" to the list :(
I went into user settings and saw I was able to change the user and pass... Though I couldn't change the password I was free to change the user ID from "someone" to "someone2" so I did... I logged out to test and see if I could log back in with the original user ID "someone" and it failed... Good Job :)
But, I couldn't log in with new user either "someone2" :( I bet it's a no brainer, over looked bug if any or maybe I am just too sleepy to remember what I changed it too... Bro I am so sorry if I broke your script
Forgive me... Thanks for the test ride :) _________________ Victor B. Gonzalez

the ID you changed is their name, or so I believe ;).... There is a kinda security flaw that I know of, but it's easily fixed....
Did I mention the passwords are encrypted in the database with Base64 ;) _________________ Any information contained herein is provided in "as is" condition without any guarantee for its accuracy, contains no warrantees - express or implied - and confers no rights.

Hot like pot in californ i a. You've got to be a brain kidding around with Base64. I wouldn't attempt messing with anything like it so excellent skill to the belt.
You should try to meet up with Awen and see if ya can blow it or anything up in some tight ASP. He seems pretty sharp and determined to get something off the ground.
Also you can make this little script open source and see what happens... Good luck :) _________________ Victor B. Gonzalez

hehe, the only major things to be added to V1 of that script is to fix a little security bug, which will take abotu 5mins and secure downloading, the second is a little trickier.... :(
If Awen wants to help, I'll be only too happy to accept his help.
Open source, what!, i never though it'd be anything but open source.... :) _________________ Any information contained herein is provided in "as is" condition without any guarantee for its accuracy, contains no warrantees - express or implied - and confers no rights.

Cool get with Awen about it, he seems very passionate about ASP. I hope you both and more can manage to work on something so spectacular that the runt lice goes to your forum and opens up a 72 page report of questions in regards to what is the importance of black licorice and does it have anything to do with PCP.
Just kidding about the runt... I hope you get it in the air... I cant help myself but think of that parasite when I see your name... Sorry about the lame jokes... Kill me :( _________________ Victor B. Gonzalez

I'd love to see the script, but none of the logins worked.
Please fix that so I can check it out. :)
P.S. I'm visiting your regular site now. It's cool! I really LOVE that logo with the world and the DSL modem. Did you make that yourself? That's hot! _________________ DLashley |

Unfortunatley, I didn't make those news icons, they were freely avaliable on a site I found sometime, I just re-sized them a little... _________________ Any information contained herein is provided in "as is" condition without any guarantee for its accuracy, contains no warrantees - express or implied - and confers no rights.

I was able to get in this time. Nice! :)
After I get more PHP under my belt, I'll tackle ASP. Have to put your site in my Favorites for when I'm ready for it. _________________ DLashley |

hehe, the release of that script has been delayed (again) as I lost the product add/remove/edit when my HDD died :( _________________ Any information contained herein is provided in "as is" condition without any guarantee for its accuracy, contains no warrantees - express or implied - and confers no rights.
