Reading the tutorials on here its seems like 2.4.0 is the version of choice, as I am having great problems getting any version of phpmyadmin installed I would be grateful if someone could post a link to the zip for me so at least as I follow the tutorials I know I am running the same version.
I have been to phpmyadmin.net and the sourceforge page and can locate 2.4.0
