As discussed before, ZoneAlarm can cause problems with Abyss. There is a bug in it that stops fastCGI from working properly. Providing you do not use fastCGI it will be fine to use. You have to set it up to allow Abyss to run as a server and accept incoming and allow outgoing connections.
