ok, ive tryed to use phpBB, and i cant firgure it out, and im not going to send another wwekend trying to. Ive tryed using easy file sharing server, but for some reason, its not allowing people to post, or upload ffiles onto it.
So, ive got 2 question.
one: is there a way to make it so people in my current forum (easy file sharing sevrer) and use it without getting error messages? you can see that by going to http://209.121.44.92:502 quickly sign up, and try to post. It will log you out or something(thats what people have been saying) and if it works, then something is wrong...
two: is that is not possible, or if you know a better fourm server that is easy to set up, can you plaese tell me, i realy want/need one (and none of those forum hosting things please, unless i get total contole of the forums and no ads) and none of that ftp/php stuff, its to confusing, i just need something that is a stand alone kind of thing, like the one i have, but better _________________ www.Officialbass.com

phpBB is very easy to set up if you have the right PHP and MySQL configuration.
I use PHP4 and MySQL 4.0.24 and it works like a charm.
Follow all the tutorials from www.trustabyss.com and you will have no problems. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

I'm not all that crash hot on PHP (and MySQL is way over my head) but I didn't have any major problem setting up phpBB. The tutorial Andy linked you too is very easy and well written - makes setting it up childs play. And it's FREE!! _________________ Cheers.... Kev

i thank you for your really helpful anwser, but it would be nice if i could get anwsers to my situations, not having to read a whole thing on other peoples, simliar, but not questions. I tryed doing the forum search, and i got the package for the php5 that gets more extentions or something, now it would be nice to know where to put them. Do i put them in c:/php and overwrite the files, or is it something different? _________________ www.Officialbass.com

You wont be looking though similar questions you will be looking through "THE question". Its a common problem and has been asked hundreds of times. A simple forum search will help you solve it.
http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8108 - First search I tried and what do you know? The answer. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

sorry for being a jerk, and posting the question twice...
one thing though, i got the php5 thing (the one with the extentions) were do i put it? does it go in its own folder, or does it overwrite the files in c:/php?
or, is there a way to create a database with out using phpMyAdmin in mysql? cause i dont think that this is going to work anytime soon.
And, is there a just as good database thing, because i dont think ill be getting sql up any time soon _________________ www.Officialbass.com
