|
|
Hi,
i just started php yesterday and finally decided to stay with abyss as server.
i installed everything, also read that http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/php.html
and installed php-support. but it still doesnt work.
php is hopefully installed right. im just not so sure about the php.ini.
I started that little test-page with the following code:
<?
phpinfo();
?>
and that is what came up on my browser:
<?
phpinfo();
?>
I changed it as php_info.php.
also other simple php-codes doesnt work and the browser always only shows the html and php-code in the <body> - part
why doesnt it work?
That this php-info-site does not work means that its a mistake in php. but i dunno which one. im using php4.
SO i did the php-installation as it should be. i just dont know how to configure the php.ini
is that right:?
doc_root = c:/WebServer/htdocs ;
(the root is original c:/WebServer/htdocs)
extension_dir = c:/php4/ ;
(the root is original c:/php4
thats everything i changed in the php.ini. is there anything i missed or did wrong? thanx in advance for your help. |

did you set up the cgi settings for abyss as documented here? http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/php.html
the text is showing as the server isn't executing the php, so this is the most likely solution. |

I belive I have followed the php installation guide to the letter.
However, when loading a test page as Becks, the information is not being shown.
I used the php windows installer, and selected other when it offered to configure the webserver for me as abyss was not on the list.
I have had php working before with Abyss, although I belive that was an older version of php.
As a new version is out is it possible that abyss does not yet support it ? |

I decided to try some of the older versions but they did not work :(
For myself one other thing has changed since I last had PHP running
I reinsalled my operating onto a differnet HDD and I now boot to drive F. Thus I have php in F:/PHP and abyss in F:/Program Files/Abyss Web Server
(Both have been fresh instilations to the F drive)
Could this this have anything to do with teh problems ? |

I have just opened up cmd prompt (in F:/PHP) and ran php test.php
it returned the html code I wanted thus I presume that I have either made a mistake in setting up the php in the webserver OR there is some problem with running of F drive |

OK Helping youself rulz
Just so people know what happend
I reinstalled abyss (removing the old config file) and started afresh.
as i was entering the file name and known extensions EUREKA
i realised that before i was entering .php in the known extensions bit. (Makes sense right ?) but abyss dn't want this.
Just so everyone knows u need to enter just php, NOT .php
Hope this helps some other people :) |

nothing of that helped, because i made such a silly mistake, i dont even need to mention it. php works fine now.
But thanks alot for your work.
now i have another prob: mysql doesnt work.. .i installed everything, and winmysqladmin starts... the green light is shown, so i think the server is okay. but then after a few seconds mysql just crashes.
i dont think anyone here can help me. i think it must be a hardware.prob.
just want to see if others have same experiences...
thax in advance |

I once had an issue with MYSQL that almost drained my sanity... I use to launch WinMySQLAdmin and would always have a red light... Nothing I could do would turn that light green... It made me reformat my PC not just once, twice or even three times... To many for the record...
I was convinced I was having a hardware failure (mainly my HDD) but that wasnt the cause after checking it... My Hardware was perfect...
Can you believe a file named "program" with no extention was the problem? I kept getting a file named program placed onto my drive roots C:\ D:\ etc:\ and simply deleting that file would make MySQL work...
My point is try to see if you have such a file and if you dont see it try turning on hidden files...
I hope something in my rambling helped :) Please tell us if you solved it already, I am interested incase I XP the same thing... _________________ Victor B. Gonzalez
