Okay I have a wireless router linksys. And It goes to my computer that I'm on right now. I keep hearing all this about opening ports. What do I need to open. Whenever I try to go to my site it says "401 Bad Request
Cann't use wireless interface to access web." and if someone else goes it just times out... I'm lost and really feeling stupid. Thanks for any help I can get. |

Im GUESSING thats your router, cause ive not had that error on abyss without good cause to, not just by accessing a web page. (And the fact a footer is put on with abyss on it.)
Is that from people from outside typing in your external IP?
Opening ports may be under "Port forwarding", "virtual servers", "firewall rules", a lot of things, look around. Thats probably the routers remote administration, which will probably move to a different port if you add a port forwarding rule for port 80, or you could disable it manually possibly, from somewhere in the menu.

That's correct! I also have a wireless linksys router. If you log into your configuration panel you should have a tab that says something like applications and gaming. Their you can go to the for UPnP forwarding and their should be a line for http. Set it to port 80 for internal and external ports and then enter your ip address for the computer your web server is on. It also helps if you set you own ip for your computer so it doesnt change and quit working. If you need any help let me know. |
