I have searched the forum regarding this topic and not sure where to direct the question other than general. I have several dvd clips of a friends wedding I want to put up. I don't know how to even begin. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you want to upload them onto Abyss, upload them to the root directory (htdocs, unless you've changed it). Then link to them on your page, like this (assuming you want someone to be able to download it, I'm not sure hot to make them play in the page itself)

<a href="file:(Directory here)">Text To Display on Page</a>

Keep in mind I haven't put file uploads on my pages for awhile... This is deep from the memory server...

Hope this'll do.

Yes, just put them in your htdocs directory (Or whatver, if changed.) and try to load them from an outside computer e.g. mydomain.or.myip.org/my_video.mpg. And itll either play in the browser if the person viewing it has the correct plugin for the type of file, or download otherwise.

You could also make an html page and embed the movie into it, again, assuming they have the plugins for it.

Thanks for the input. How would I offer plug ins to visitors so they could see the clips?

we recommend reading http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/howto/articles/webserver.aspx
. You'll find there two ways to host streaming video:
* on a web server.
* on a specialized streaming server.

There is also a comparison between the two streaming methods in terms of
quality of service( http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/compare/webservvstreamserv.aspx )
. A streaming server is more specialized so it can be better than a web
server (which is a general purpose server) but it can also cost a lot of money.

Thank you, this looks like a good site. Can't wait to try it out.
