When i install the abyss web server x1 on windows xp and begin the startup configuration i choose manual startup. when i go to "show console" option with internet explorer it says "page could not be displayed". when i go to "show console" option with netscape it comes up and says "the document contains no data"
Please help me with this. |

Disable proxy use for 127.0.0.1 and/or localhost in your browser. Does it work now? Does entering the console URL directly in the browser work?

i downloaded firefox mozilla and set it as my default browser and when i click show console a error window comes up that says "the document contains no data"
P.S. netscape does the same thing. |

i have tried tinkering with disabling the whole proxy use for 127.0.0.1:9999 thing and that did absolutly nothing
No hard feeling toward any of you people trying to help but this is very agrivating. i try to get the internet to come up on this one stinking thing and it wont work!

Can you access the actual pages? http://localhost
If you can't it would suggest that Abyss is not actually running, or has received a lessoning error.
How are you running it? As a service, or a normal windows program?

i clicked on that link and that didnt work either
what do you mean by service or regular program.All i am doing is Abyss Web Server X1 on the start menu then going console>show...
internet explorer starts up (loads longer than normal) then goes to the dreaded "page page could not be displayed" page

In the Abyss dialog (where you chose "console > view") do you see:

Hi i downloaded abyss webserver 1 and it runs on my xp. But i can access my site by typing 'http://localhost' or 'http://127.0.0.1/ - i cannot access my site as i dont know my address or how to configure it.
Please help as i don't know how to find my address so other people can access my site |

sprocketme2 - Did you ever get Abyss working?
I've got mine installed on XP, manual start and it works great - as long as I remember to click on the Abyss icon on my desktop to start the webserver first! Sounds sort of elementary but I can't tell you the number of times I've forgotten to do that. |
