|
|
Hey people,
Does anyone know how to get either Linux or Abyss to stop doing this.
Every time that I enter my web page address:
http://127.0.0.1
it always come up with the page is not found.
I have to always put the port number after the address like this:
http://127.0.0.1:xxxx
then the page loads properly.
I have set up the aliases and everything is working perfectly, cgi, perl, php and all that. THe real annoyance is that I have to add the port number after the address for the pages to load.
Any ideas or solutions.

I know exactly what you mean and would also like to know if their is a solution for that... I use a port other than 80 and always have to add the port number after my real IP otherwise it wont work...
Is their a solution at the moment or will a solution be out in some time?
Thank you and Abyss still rocks! |

The reason you have to add the port # on to your ip to see the page is because port 80 is the default port to run a webserver off of. So everytime you access a page it will look for port 80, if you don't have it on port 80 the browser will not bother to check other ports because it could be any # from 1-9999 or higher.
Hoped this helped. |

This isn't related to Abyss Web Server. This is the same with all other web servers. This is how URLs work. _________________ Support Team

Thanks for all the replies.
I changed my port to 80 as root, and now I have no problem loading the page at all.
Sorry to bug you over a trivial problem like this.
Thanks again.javascript:emoticon(':D') |
