I was just wondering which php scripts everyone here uses the most.

What do you use for your:

1. weblog
2. forum
3. portal
4. chat room
5. guestbook
6. photo gallery
7. server administration
8. etc...

If it's free, secure, easy-to-install, easy-to-modify and easy-to-use, I want to know about it! Share the wealth, guys! :)

Most of those things are actually small, and fairly easy to make. So I use my own... im not very fond of having a site made out of misc things scattered about.

I use GreyMatter 1.3 for my blogs.
I use SMF for my forums.
When i do use a portal i use e107.
I don't really use any chatrooms besides IRC.
I don't use guestbooks either.
I use a custom photo gallery that i wrote a while back.

Other then that i use mostly custom scripts that i've written. My Shoutbox, online users, etc are mostly custom...

I also write my own scripts. At the moment I'm writing my own web portal software. This allows for one login for the entire site, and allows me to put the administration features in 1 place.

Also I will not be distributing it, first because if there are any security bugs it will be much harder to find them, and second, I don't want to give them away.

Hi,
I've just installed Abyss Web Server for this sort of thing. I've been developing some stuff too! My current site is s-wiz.com, But I plan to move it to my new Abyss Web Server! They're some pretty cool scripts, and if anybody wants to help, email somebody@secretsomebody.info

I hear you, fella, but it's a good thing that the folks at Aprelium don't feel this way or we all wouldn't be here in the first place. ;)

but they do plan to charge for their work at some stage. I don't have enough knowledge or time to make a system that needs payment to use, and my scripts will be very difficult to setup for own needs.

You say that like it's a bad thing—them charging for their work. lol. That's why people go into business: to get paid. You want to get paid too, right?

Doesn't stop you from using Abyss's free program (that you are using now) to test out your scripts and develop them.

That's all I'm saying.

It was never meant to sound like a bad thing. As i'm Dyslexic it is difficult for me to get my thoughts clearly shown in writing, my last post being a good example. Doh! The main problem is that it looks fine to me, but to everyone else it makes no sense :(.
