Why do people always assume that the PHP category is where to post MySQL topics? I posted this two days ago in the General forum.

To answer your question, it's a logical assumption for several reasons:

1. There's currently no forum listed for MySQL Issues.
2. There's no sign or link or note posted on the Main Forum which indicates in which forum to post MySQL-related topics.
3. PHP and MySQL work in conjunction with each other.

Here are some other logical assumptions based on your reply:

1. You're aware of the confusion.
2. You've done nothing or haven't done enough to keep it from happening.
3. It's going to keep happening until something is done to alleviate the confusion.
4. You assume that everyone reads/has read all of your posts, even newcomers to the forum.
5. You have an overrated opinion of yourself.

1 & 2) General - "Questions not fitting in one of the above forums."
3) Perl and MySQL work together. ASP and MySQL work together. Other CGI and MySQL work together. See where this is going?

I assume that if someone comes to post a security warning, they will make some effort to check that the warning has not already been posted in the days previous. This is a pretty standard thing to do... All it would take is a click of the search button and MySQL + Security.

I actually have an underated opinion of others. I can't help being perfect ;)

I didn't intend any offence in my original reply, there was just no point this being a repeat of the other thread...

Well, Mr. Perfect:

1. "Underrated" has 2 r's in it and "offense" is spelled with an "s", not a "c".

2. Your reply was offensive because it was rude and condescending, but I'll let it pass this time because you do have a point about checking before I post. I'll do that next time. Duh. ;)

3. What can be done so that this doesn't happen again? Can someone make a post in this forum that stays at the top that says:

"ATTENTION: Do not post MySQL issues in this forum! Please post them in the (insert forum name here) forum"?

4. I made a suggestion in another post to create a "MySQL Issues" forum. Who can make that happen and would you, please (to whomever)?

1) 1 out of 2 isn't bad - offence is offence in the UK. Underrated was a test ;)
2) It was supposed to be short and to the point, not rude or condescending. Apologies.

Not necessarily, maybe just a clarification in the main page on which section to post MySQL issues in - most seem to end up in PHP when they could go under General...
