|
|
:(
I installed Abyss + ActiveHTML and follow the instruction to add ASP support.
I can see the ASP is working because I have a script to valid the user/pwd and if not valid user/pwd, will direct to another page. So this is happening, which means the ASP interpreter is working to re-direct my page.
But, I can't a thing display in the IE! Not my script dir, nor the /ahtml dir.
Pls hlp! |

You should play with the ActiveHTMl configuration tool and especially with the directories settings there. _________________ Support Team

Can anybody tell me why there is no display in the IE? If this cannot be resolved, I will have to use CGIs.... |

Dear Sir,
Tks for the reply but you did not answer my question. |
There is no magical answer to your problem. We suggested something to do, have you tried it? We can't help you if you don't help us with a more precise description of your problem.
Let's start with basics. Have you followed exactly the instructions at http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/asp.html . Do you CGI Paths contain /? _________________ Support Team

Yes, sir! I have followed the instruction and perhaps let me re-state my question:
1. Download ActiveHTNL from Selisoft.
2. Install.
3. Following instruction I read from Aprelium and the README from Selisoft about how to add ASP support in Abyss. Actually the two instructions are quite identical.
4. Try to navigate to: http://211.167.130.17/ahtml. No error page displayed and the IE 6 I have simply has one status text "Done". Try to use http://211.167.130.17/ahtml/index.asp or default.asp, same effect.
5. I created another ASP directory to map to my own ASP codes. These codes are tested ok both on my local web server before when I was using IIS and remote server. (Now this directory is deleted.)
6. I navigate to http://211.167.130.17/asp to see the result. The correct display will show up some image and a login form to process user login. Nothing displayed. Same status text "Done" in IE.
7. I use http://211.167.130.17/asp/main.asp. The correct situation will be, if there is no correct user/pwd specified, this page will direct to an error page. And when I navigate to this page using the URI above, actually I did not provide any user/pwd infor. So I noticed that the page has been redirected to http://211.167.130.17/asp/error.asp?code=0, but there is not anything displayed on my screen. It should display a screen telling me the error code, error description and hyperlink back to the main page.
From the above, I can conclude that:
1. The ASP script engine is actually working and my configuration is OK, otherwise I cannot be redirected in step 7. So it is not the problem from ActiveHTML.
2. So it must be somthing wrong with Abyss.
My OS:
Windows XP (no SP1) Professional Simplified Chinese
IE 6.0 with SP1
I can view other ASP sites with no problem.
Pls help.
Anyway, I am now already starting using CGI executables to manage the dynamic database display. |

Simple question, does http://127.0.0.1/ahtml works? If not, that means that you have some problem with ActiveHTML. And remember that ActiveHTML is not bug free (did someone guaranteed you that?). During our testings, you can't imagine the number of bugs/problems we faced with ActiveHTML. So the problem could come from it. Why are you suspecting only the web server? Abyss Web Server was tested with dozens of CGI interpreters and all worked fine. ActiveHTML is just one on that list. _________________ Support Team

OK. Let's stop here. I am now comfortable using BCB to develope CGI stand-alone EXEs to support.
Just want to let you guys (and guys at Selisoft) to know that ASP is still widely used than other Server technology and Abyss is not the biggest in Web server market.
If problems are treated like that, then I saw doom future for both. |

Thank you for your words of wisdom. But we are used to have precise and comprehensive problem descriptions from our users in order to be able to help them (and we help all of them.) Your issue report is not the most accurate we received and we can't help you too much with so few information.
Remember that requesting support conforms to some policies especially when you don't pay people for that (fortunatly, all people using that forum seem to know them.)
Now, if you mind, we are waiting for your feedback (you haven't already answered to the simple questiosn we asked) in order to track the problem. _________________ Support Team
