You don't set paths for index files , you just set the name that will be used. |

If I fill in "index.htm" then I got the error "An error was detected in the form. Please fix it and retry. Bad path".
So what you're saying is maybe wrong.

Hi!
OK:
Under "general.chl":
Documents Path: *here*
BTW: I'm not new to web-servers (already running a very small server which doesn't have all the features I wanna have. So I want to change...)
FAQ and documentation already read.
Is there a setup field where I can set the default index-file name? (not found until yet)

Documents path is used to define the folder that the root of your website is stored in. It should be the folder name for your website under the installed Abyss root (or elsewhere) - see documentation + screenshot here :
http://www.aprelium.com/data/abyssws-x1-win-doc-html/servergeneral.html
Notice that in the "Documents path" option the parameter is htdocs.
The option for index file names is found under Server Parameters which is ni the Advanced configuration section - docs + screenshot here :
http://www.aprelium.com/data/abyssws-x1-win-doc-html/serveradvanced.html
However, if you're saying that you have an index.htm file in your root folder, have directory indexing disabled and Abyss is not showing the index.htm, something strange is going on. Index.htm and .html are set as the defaults for index files when you install Abyss... |

Thank you all for your help!!
I finally found the problem after playing with the parameters:
In the documents path the last "/" should be omitted. Then it works as required. A little bit strange - I thought and think it should be included as in the server root path.
Have a great time -
Henry
