Do they work in Abyss? And how?
See, I have domain ecchineko.net, and I would like to have, for example, software.ecchineko.net
(How) can I do this? |

Domain name configuration is not related to the server. You should register/create the subdomain software.ecchineko.net and configure it to point to your IP address. Abyss will serve any request that reaches your computer (regardless of the domain name or the IP.)
If you want to host many sites with different domain names, you'll have to use the Professional version of Abyss that will be released soon. With it, you can use wioldcards to configure hosts (of course, after doing all the subdomain creation/registration stuff.) |

So you're saying that I'd have to buy software.ecchineko.net?
And if I point it to my IP, then it'll redirect to my main index.html/php, right?
So using wildcards is not possible Abyss? |

What they're saying is that you need to control your domain name before you can use *.eechineko.net.
Buying a domain name does not mean that you can instantly use www.yourdomain.com software.yourdomain.com ilikehats.yourdomain.com - whatever. All it means is you own that TLD - yourdomain.com. Each time someone types yourdomain.com into their browser, it has to be resolved by a DNS server. For whatever.yourdomain.com to work, whatever.yourdomain.com must also be entered into a DNS server. If the reseller that you bought ecchineko.net doesn't support adding your own subdomains, you will have to use a different way of controlling your domain - have a look at ZoneEdit.com.
Once you have those setup, Abyss currently only supports subdomains through the use of server side scripting eg. php/perl/whatever. Search the forum for virtual host creator for more details. Full support for virtual hosts/subdomains will be in the Professional version of Abyss. Which won't be free... |
