I'm using Windows XP. I'm on a school network. When I do the ipconfig through Windows command prompt, I get one IP, but when I use any other IP detection program/site, I get a different IP. I'm not sure why I get different IPs using different methods.
When I use the IP provided by Windows in the ipconfig, I can access the site myself, but no one else can see the site using the exact same address. When I use the IP determined by Abyss, neither I nor anyone else can access the site.
And for the record, no, I'm not trying to send people to my site using 127.0.0.1.

That is the address that should be working, but it doesn't...not even on my own computer.

That is the address that Windows IPconfig gives to me. I can view the test page with that address on my own computer, but no one else can. |

If you're on a school network that most likely means you're behine a router. Most schools don't allow port forwarding which means that others, outside the network, will not be allowed to view your site. If you are really bent on doing this, contact your netwrok admin and ask them to forward your port (80, 81, whichever it is) but the chances of them doing this are low for security reasons. I suggest running a webpage from your home computer. |

i can view the site myself from my computer but no one else can see it at all, i even lowered my firewall completely to see if that would help.. any suggestions ??

The first you need port forwarding for the actual in your router. If you are running software firewall too you have to give Abyss full permission to do everything it wants.
The start document has to be named index.htm or index.html (or you have to change it in the Abyss console).
Then shall your site be accessible thou internet when typing your (external) ip.
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Or if you are using a service like no-ip.com, type http://the.name.you.chosed
(In my case http://utumno.no-ip.biz) It isn’t much for a site; it’s still just a test area.
Good Luck!

Without their permission, this is illegal.
