just want to host files

but not with ftp,............makes it a pain for people who dont know how to use or dont have a client like say smart ftp............ive often wondered how to make a klikable download link,that i host myself,so i went looking and found this place.
ive installed the serverjust need to know how to make a link that someone can klik and the download will start from there web browser.........no website nothing just for sharing small files with friends and family........any pointers please?????????
funny thing is i could point the url to a webpage like this.........(theres nothing there just an example) could do if i wanted
