Ok, I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere, so if it has, please post where it was answered, and I'm sorry for not finding it :)
My question is this, I would like to know how it is possible to set up abyss this way (with abyss's doccument root set to C:\Host): C:\Host\ (the root of C:\Host) password protected (I know how to do that :) ), but a subfolder, say C:\Host\WWW\ open to all.
What I've tried is to password protect the root (Host), but and leave the subfolder as Allow\Deny with no users specified in it. But, whenever I try to access the subfolder, I still have to input the root password. Any idea?
Thanks for your help, and thanks to aprelium for making the best server I've ever used, it is just so easy to use :) (I hated appache, I'd always mess up the config files and it wouldn't work because of something like a typo hehe). |

I think you're either going to have to do it the other way around, or get a script. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

thought so, my thinking origonally was that every subfolder automatically refers back to the root of it, and that you can only alter the restrictions placed on a particular subfolder, not remove them...
Thanks tho :) |

In Abyss's case, yes. There are other things that don't work like that (like Linux), but you don't have to worry about those... hehe. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Yea, but what if I don't want ANY login or password for my web server?
In my home environment....all I want to direct access to my own test web site and server. How do I do this (turn security off)? _________________ Thanks,

There is no login or password for your webserver by default. If you get a password prompt when you enter your IP into your browser, you are seeing your routers configuration options password prompt.
