Goose,
our future plans about Abyss are clear and were discussed many times on these forums. There will always be a free version of Abyss for personal users. We are also going to release a professional version that won't be free (and that won't be shareware.)

The pro has said to be c. $99.
The Personal version will be lacking business-like features, such as SSL (and possibly virtual hosting).
