				| My server has been running great for some months now - nothing amazing - just a webcam, etc.
 Suddenly it stopped working!

Looking into it Aprelium was still running fine, however all my settings in ALIASes have disappeared and the only 2 entries in the startup are index.html (twice)

I used to run from index.php, and in aliases I had ahtml, phpnuke, awstats, and a few more i cant remember.....

ANY idea where they went, what may have caused it ?

 Thanks
 Chris

Oh, btw, even my admin pasasword has gone (and nope, that port was NOT open to the outside world..only port 80 for the web pages)

				| Sounds like the bottom portion of your abyss.conf file got deleted or corrupt. That's where your alias and login info is located.

				| Oohhh doesnt sound good.
Well as I cant log in remotely any more I will see what its like when I get home.

Just realsied it isnt running perl anymore, so even though I added awstats back in on the alias page all i get is a lovely page of perl script.

 Ta

(It still doesnt answer WHY it suddenly went wrong!)

				| Try re-installing Abyss over the old one. Don't worry, none of your files will get deleted.
When it asks you to confirm the deletion of the installation directory, select No.
You'll have to reconfigure your console again, but -hey - it only takes 10 minutes.

				| Are you running Abyss with FireDaemon by any chance ? It has been mentioned before that when Abyss isn't closed cleanly, the conf file gets overwritten. | |

				| In case you don't know this, all those settings (AFAIK) are contained in abyss.conf (in the main Abyss Web Server directory). When you've got everything set up again, copy that file as some other name; then, if you ever have this problem again, just shut down Abyss and copy the saved-off file back as abyss.conf. Incidentally, this copying is what my Abyss-Restarter program does automatically each time it's run (on a rolling basis, for 99 copies); see:

 Regards,

 Bill
