As nquin321 says, if you are using a windows system then you do not need to chmod.

I really like the FileZilla FTP server from:
http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

Or install some kind of PHP filemanager like you'd see on free sites like Geocities etc... Check Hotscripts.com for them

Why do you need to "CHMOD" files?

(To learn how on Windows, search these forums for "CHMOD").

It's probably more because of the electricity costs...

Get them to buy you a UPS - always good to have on a server anyway.

Then tell them that it works like a car battery, and...er...supplies the electricity by itself. :P

Ya never know...it might just work :?: :!:

It depends entirely on how you explain it to them doesn't it

UPS is an uninteruptable power supply, it's basically a big battery which regulates the power supply to your PC protecting it from power surges or dips, and also will keep it going for around 10-15 minutes if the power gives out completely, giving you enough time to shut the system down smoothly after 14 minutes if the power hasn't come back on.

Cost can be anywhere from $25 to hundreds of dollars depending on how many devices you want to connect and how long you want it to last when the power cuts out...

Like Anonymoose said, a UPS is designed to protect against power outages and surges; not save you energy costs. Only get one if you live in an area where you can bet on the power going out. (Unless of course your website needs to stay up for some reason; like business).

If you want to save on power costs, get a big solar panel and stick it on your roof.

Well something that can fully power a computer would be a decent size.

I would be willing to buy it off you... :D

What happens if u want to use ur computer at night?

I would of though the computer base unit would take more electricity than the monitor because of the mother board and all the components.

Thanks for al ur sugestions.

It depends on they type of solar system. Some are equipped with a battery, that can hold energy through the night. If it is just a direct line to the computer, then no, it wouldn't get through the night.
