Aprelium says these are the requirements to run abyss:
System requirements
Abyss Web Server X1 is a multiplatform software designed for Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Millennium Edition (ME), NT 3.51 (and higher), 2000, XP, 2003, MacOS X 10.2 (and higher), Linux 2.0 (and higher), and FreeBSD 4.8 (and higher) systems.
This guide documents the Windows version. Abyss Web Server X1 for Windows minimum requirements are:
An Intel 80386 processor at 33 MHz.
8 Mb of RAM.
A web browser with HTML 4.0 support.
TCP/IP protocol stack installed.
I would suggest adding these:
Basic understanding of what a webserver is. ---very important
The ability to ask questions that make some sense ---also important
The ability to read ---important --- don't ask questions for things that have been answered in the post right below!!! --use the search function in the forum
You have to know what the index file is --- I remember someone asking that
Anyone else have any suggestions :?: :?:

You must have Security with your server!
and also, a love to let ppl in on your computer to see your website. :)
Ive had someone run it and say, "stop looking at my site" whenever I was around at his house and ppl where visiting his site =.- |

What I wonder is how people come across Abyss who have no prior knowledge of servers.
If you don't know what a server is; don't try and use one. (Which parallels the common "Don't say a word you can't spell.") I think people should learn about what they are getting into before they actually do it.
You wouldn't jump off a cliff if you didn't know what was below you; now would you? _________________ Bienvenidos! |
