Here is my favorite, the Fluid Dynamics Search Engine from:
http://www.xav.com/scripts/search/
It is perl and has crawler functionality.

Hi iNaNimAtE--
Yeah I do. I actually am using it with several sites, but you can take a look at my 'development and testing installation' (with Abyss) here, if you like:
http://sixa.no-ip.info/search.html
It's pretty much in it's "raw" state (not customized much) but you can play around and see how it works, if you like.
You can see a demo admin interface here:
http://demo.nickname.net/latest/en/search/search.pl?Mode=Admin
...and I don't work for this company...smile.
Regards,

Oh wow... this is pretty nice. Thank you for the recommendation; I'll probably use it in the future. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

There is also one offered by WhatUSeek. However these can get annoying because you do not have full control over them.
If you still want the WhatUSeek one, it is available at http://sitelevel.whatuseek.com _________________ Bienvenidos! |

This is a possibility: http://perlfect.com/freescripts/search/
A PERL script... probably not the best, but works for me :) _________________ "Death and destruction... that's all a person really needs" - Kalkin / EViL |

When it comes to Abyss, I think Perl takes longer to execute than PHP (that's just my experience). _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Abyss doesn't have any influence on Perl speed. The difference you notice is related to the number of Perl modules you have. PHP don't have a long startup time because most people use at most 5 or 6 extensions so their download time is very small. _________________ Support Team
