domain names(tutorial maybe)

if someone were to buy a domain name then wanted it pointing to my server (for freewebspace) am i right in thinking that all they need to do is a redirect to theirname.myhost.com?

is there also another way to do this?

im sure there is but i just cant find the right words to explain it.

i already offer hosting and know that i can redirect a sub dom to their webspace using zoneedit in the following manner

someone signs up by default the script places a new directory on my server which for this example i will use fred.

once signed up their space is accesible by the following method http://mydomain/users/fred

however once i get the notifacation email i then use zoneedit to redirect from http://mydomain.com/users/fred

to http://fred.mydomain.com

if any one finds this useful i will maybe put a full tutorial in the tutorials section

ZoneEdit is good, but when you type "fred.mydomain.com" it will also redirect (showing the full URL in the browser) to "mydomain.com/users/fred." The subdomain would then just seem like a shortcut to most users, and not as an actual URL. I have tried ZoneEdit's "cloaking" feature, but I can't seem to get it to work.
