|
|
I have installed the server and got it running ok, but when testing it, my friends could not access it and see my web site.
I have done the defalt install, onto my computer which is running "Windows XP Home Edition". My internet connection is DSL 512Kb Broadband, through an ethernet router.
I have created a website and copyed it into the folder, and when I goto http://127.0.0.1/ on my computer it shows the website fine.
Also when I goto http://82.32.93.74 (which is my internet ip address) it also works ok on my computer, but when I give this address to my friends on other computers they cannot access my running server. They get Unable to find server errors.
I am running a "Norton Firewall" which asked me if I wanted to allow connections to the server program in which I said yes always. I am also running the Windows XP firewall, which I have not messed with.
Could some one please help me, Have I got to set up the server somehow, or set up the windows xp firewall maybe? |

I am almost sure that XP's firewall will block the server u will have to open the port in it
and it might be thet your ISP blocks port 80 so you might have to have the server run on some other port But I would try and open the firewall in xp frist
good luck |

Thanks, I went into the network connections screen and clicked on advanced and the settings, and put a tick in the box called web server at the bottom.
I guess thats opened the port then, thanks for your help.
