Hi, I've just started using Abyss, and I must say I'm very very impressed.

On the front page of the site it says that Abyss supports HTTP 1.1 - does this include conditional GETs (Last Modified/Etag)?

Also, I suspect not, but does Abyss have an equivalent to Apache's mod_gzip for bandwidth-saving compression?

Abyss supports conditional GETs (almost all except Etag).

Gzip support is not yet included but it will be in the near future.
