Hello all... I just gave Abyss a whirl and am very impressed with this apps ease of use and functionality for a small web server. Integrating PHP & Perl was a snap, but I also need ASP for a full local dev server. Since I cannot seem to get PWS 4.0 to run PHP at all, my other choice is to use another server that can support ASP.
I went to SeliSoft and dl'd the activeHTML package there only to find out that NT or greater OS is required to implement.
Does anyone know of ANY other ASP plugin/translator that may work with Abyss on Windows 98SE? I would be willing to pay for a decent working add-on but free is always better. I tried Stryon's and they rely on a full JDK 1.1.x installation which by the way is obsoleted by Sun, talk about messy.
If Aprelium built in native ASP support at some juncture and charged for it, I am sure that many developers would jump on it. Say a Premium Abyss or such... probably not in my lifetime, so back to the original quest...
ASP add-on/translator that will work with Abyss on Windows 98? Anyone?
Thanks! |

wknit,
It seems that there are no ASP interpreters on Win98. This is sad but that's the truth. What makes things hard is that Win98 is now considered "obsolete" by Microsoft to force people to upgrade. So there less and less developers willing to support Win98. _________________ Support Team

Yep, I know what you mean... too bad to! W98 is a great little OS to thrash on with development tools and such. I run an XP box and link to to my 98 machine for all the server side testing, helps to emulate the server connection necessary before going to live code and 98 is easy to reload in case it gets trashed.
So... you guys here could always take my suggestion to heart and do it yourselves... I would be willing to bet that I wouldn't be the only one to invest in such a product.
In the mean time I am running two servers on different ports to facilitate my needs on W98. |
