Sorry, guys, but i've looked EVERYWHERE and found stuff closely related but just can't this thing running.

I've installed Nuke. No problems. The problem comes when someone wants to create a new user. It sends them an email...the email never shows up.

I know i have to setup a mail server. I'm using ArGosoft. I've changed the PHP.ini file. It looks like this:

[mail function]
; For Win32 only.
SMTP = localhost ; for Win32 only
smtp_port=25

; For Win32 only.
sendmail_from = peet_the_monster@yahoo.com ; for Win32 only

I have ran Server Tests at http://www.psi-rho.com/dsltools/index.php, the SMTP is working perfectly and so is the Web Server.

But still, no emails are being sent to new users! What am I doing wrong??

thanks in advance.

Try this:

In your php.ini, change the SMTP=localhost to the actual smtp setting. (ex, smtp.yourISP.com)

Moxxnixx!

You genius! It worked! I can't believe it. I've been looking all over the place for days and found nothing like this suggestion. I just changed SMTP = localhost to SMTP = SMTP.rcn.com and it worked like a charm!!

Thank you so much!

If you don't mind my asking, how did you figure this solution out?

Thanks again

I used to have 'nuke on my site last year. Got frustrated with it.
Switched to e107 and got better support from their forums about smtp.
Had it ever since. :D :D

I have one thing to add....

If you have a pop server, the recipients ISP may not accept direct mailings but you may find that thats where your emails have gone... into the big black hole called the spam database.

Be ware as you can unwittingly find your whole site blacklisted by these databases, so I would advise you use Smart server in Argo or set it to only use Smart server for certian ISPs like hotmail.com yahoo.com etc, all the major ISPs will only accept emails from recognised networks while the smaller ones dont usually care too much and you can quite happily sent them email till the cows come home.

Like previously stated, your SMTP valuse should be either your mail server address or localhost, I also run Argomail server pro version, nice little tool but not as flexable as others but saying that, most dont have a web interface.

Now you need to also watch your mail server too because if its set to allow relay, you need to lock it down so that your the only person that can access the mail server as it will be visible from the internet and you may well find that your getting access attempts in the form of probes, I had some yesterday for 666666.666666@666666666666,com or near enough, that was followed by 12345678790.0987654321@1234567890.com. So bewarned, thats another way of getting your email server rammed into the blackhole.

nuff said, any op probs, see the man next door as he know as much as me!!!
