the password and username for mysql
are default
'root' = username
' ' = password
i dont uderstand command prompt
is there a way of changing the password and user name
and also alowing others to have a username and password
for hosting purposes

I hate command prompt stuff too...
MySQL has a frontend application you can download and access and manage your databases.
go to mysql.com to download the frontend application...

but i'm having trouble finding the frontend application

Well, go download and install phpMyAdmin than it will be really easy for you to change your passwords. I really didn;t need to change my root name because I have a password. _________________ Picture of my a$$ coming soon till than look at this ( ( ) <== NICE A$$! |

i set up a forum tester with
with default settings as above
i,ve got phpadmin already installed
how do i change the password
i tried and when i changeed the password and user name in the forum config file
it couldnt connect to database
what am i doing wrong _________________

You can download MySQL Front End http://www.mysql.com/downloads/mysqlcc.html
Once you are connected to your database, you may change your password(s) in the "User Configuration" part.
(Don't forget to edit (right button->edit) and update your database settings with the new root password)

my mysql isnt command line, i went to the mysql directory then bin and then the mysqladmin thing, i went to one of the tabs at the top of it, and it showed me the user/password of the admin, so i erased and changed _________________ --------------------------- |
