this is asked allot but abyss is a peresonal web server so until the professinal version of abyss comes out you'll have to use this exellent script bluedog made a that gets the job done.
the script url and instuctions are http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1081 |

Or you can make a subfolder. And if you have a Domain Registered Name, you can direct to that subfolder. No one would know any different. You would still have www.mydomian1.com and www.mydomain2.com and www.mydomain3.com etc..... When updating by FTP, they would not know any different there either. The FTP Server will map to that folder where it hold all the HTML or whatever according to the account setting. The only time will see any difference is when browsing. They s/he will see /domain1 or domain2 subfolder etc.... But if you turn off "AutoIndexing" then no one would know except you the hoster admin. _________________ CapFusion,... |

Ahhh.... I see. Did you read or try the next post below gook? Try doing a subfolder and subdomain? This way, you do not need script to add into complication. Do you have multiple Domain Register that can point to your main IP? You can set like this ... www.yourhost1.com .... www.yourhost2.com and so forth. Or you can subdomain like this domain1.yourhost1.com .... domain2.yourhost2 and so forth. All you need is make a subfolder and alias to hold that separate content of each individual name that you directing. This would make thing less complicated and no trouble-shooting the script to work the way you want it. _________________ CapFusion,... |

As long your DNS service server update your Dynamic IP that should be find. All you really need is to point to the DNS service which I assumed you are using "Dynsite"? _________________ CapFusion,... |

Are you asking me where the location of "AutoIndexing"?
http://www.aprelium.com/data/abyssws-x1-win-doc-html/serveradvanced.html
Or asking if you should turn "off" or "on"? It really depend on your situation and preference of what you want to do.
Let put this way, if you want user to browse to that directory or folder and allow to view it content, then turn it ON otherwise turn it "Off" to prevent from see it. Like as I said above, it really depend on you. _________________ CapFusion,... |

Hi,
I have tried unsuccesfully to do the php script for multiple sites also. I get errors that I believe are due to php version. I would like to try what you guys have talked about in this thread, but need some hand holding.
1st domain name is techmation.biz
static ip
go through mydomain.com and do ip pointing to get to my machine
techmation.biz works fine if in htdocs but if I put it one subdirectory below.....how do I get this to work as your saying.
Thanks in advance,
Dave |

Thanks for the quick response. Forgot to mention that I come through a netgear router. So mydomain.com points to the router IP and the router knows that my web server box is at a certain ip because of http service set up on the router. In that http setting you can only put ip and not any subfolders.
btw, I could not get to www.hast.it |

Sorry, did not know you slip into this thread, chapm4.
You indicated you have a domain name call Techmation.biz. You will need to point to your subfolder.
Example.
Main root folder /HTDOCS (default). Make a subfolder like this /htdocs/techmation and put all HTML JPG or whatever you want in that folder or directory. From your Domain Register, you will need to specificly point to your static IP plus the subfolder to /techmation folder. If you have your Abyss "AutoIndex" set to "on", all you need is to point to the folder and will auto load any index file. But if you "AutoIndex" is turn "Off", then you will need to include the file "index.html" or "index.htm" or whatever you to load that HTML file.
Or you can make a new "ALIAS" call "/techmation" and just point to the new folder.
Summary:
From your Domain Name Register:
Make a point to your IP by using "A (Address)" for Recod Type. Enter your static IP here.
Next, make a subhostname call techmation and enter your IP and your subfolder (ie http://myipaddress/techmation/). Also you may need to include "index.html" if "AutoIndex" is "Off". This location should have your techmation content.
You can use URL FRAME or URL Redirect for your record type.
From Abyss:
Make a subfolder call techmation.
You should be able to view your "Techmation" site by entering URL techmation.techmation.biz. You can continue on making more subname and point to another subfolder .... etc....
Then you will be seing some subname as follow:
Example
- Techmation.techmaation.biz
- techmation2.techmaation.biz
- anothersite.techmaation.biz
Do you see the idea here?
If you have another Domain Name, do the same and point to another subfolder or Alias etc...
www.abcd.com to alias of /abcd folder
www.efgh.com to alias of /efgh folder
etc...
You can have infinite name to point to your abyss subfolder or Alias. The only limit or prevention is how big is your bank account. _________________ CapFusion,... |
