When I try running MySQL it makes my computer go real slow, and the green light never comes on.

| Try getting more RAM. And it does not matter if the traffic lights icon is their or not, it should still work. |

There is a section in MySQL documentation where they explain how you can configure MySQL to work on a small machine or using as little RAM as possible.
