Hey, i recently bought a domain anme with dyndns.com as i have a dynamic i.p address. Now, my problem is, that i cant get my web server to link with my .co.uk domain name. Not really sure what i need to do for this? i have a windows i.p updater from the dyndns website but when i configure in my groups im not sure what hostname to add as it only picks up domains such as "myname.theredomain.com" instead of my "www.myname.com" if someone could please please help me id really appreciate it. |

You need to go into your .co.uk domain name DNS settings, and add your no-ip domain as a CNAME entry in your DNS settings.

www CNAME you.no-ip.com

For future reference mydomain.com offers domain registration for $9 and domain transfer for $8 which includes DNS management. Also dnsexit.com will allow you to map domains you own to your dynamic ip for free where dynDNS.com and No-IP.com charge you for it. Really though, why not call your ISP and ask them for a static IP address.
Another really good freebee is StartCom.org who offers free SSL certificates. Where other companies like VeriSign.com will charge you $400+ for SSL certificates.
There are always free alternatives to everything. There are even free alternatives to Abyss but for me I was so impressed with the product that I had to have it and yes I use it on my web server. |
