| under USER and GROUPS option i set up 2 user name/passwords. one is for me and the other is for guests. the one i set for myself works but the guest one doesnt work. i can enter it and it wont accept it. any ideas? |

Are you sure you're getting the username and password correct? Is it assigned to the group you're trying to access? Double check these two things again and then retry. Simply enter the password again in the console to make sure.

| well i even delete the user accts and used '1' as the name and '1' as the password and it wont accept it when i log in |

Try changing the Deny/Allow box to the settings its not currently on.

In access control there will be on the directory you are protecting. This is where you must change the option. Remember also to select the users you wish to allow.
