Is Abyss already running? Do you have Skype installed? Skype uses port 80. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Your email server might be running it's own webmail system, being served through port 80. _________________ Olly |

yea the mail server was trying to do its own webmail system, but i had that set on another port, i guess a day or 2 ago i had reset the default configuration and when i had shut down the abyss on accident it took control over port 80.. ... but that currently isng the problem unfortanilty
The thing is, there is something on my computer that is stopping me from hosting things, i dont know what it is and i have scanned for trojans/viruses (using avast professional) and have not found anything... im running sygate personal firewall Pro aswell.. and it hasnt detected anything trying to connect to the outside world.
so im kinda lost on what is going on. some have told me to format some have told me to try another anti-virus, but i trust avast.
Btw for anyone wanting to help me with this problem even though its not 'abyss' related i would greatly apricate it.
Im running Windows XP SP2
thanks |

How do you know there is something that is stopping you from hosting on your computer? Please describe the behavior you're experiencing and give us a detailed transcript of the error messages you are encountring. _________________ Support Team

i can access the webserver inside the network (192.168.1.100) but i cannot access it via domain, or my outside IP.
it happens with everything, even my virtual lan (WAN) people can't even connect to it, nor can i.
I can surf the web just fine, the torrents run fine.. but anything that people should be able to access using outside ip's/domain it will not work.
and when they do try to access a website, it just says connection reset or connection timed out. they cant even get in my chat rooms |

ciys,
In such a case, the problem is not caused by your software (Windows or Abyss Web Server). It is related to a bad router/firewall configuration.
Please read http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/articles/x2-hosts.html to know how to configure your router to accept incoming connections and how to configure it to forward connections to the web server. _________________ Support Team

see thats the thing. It isn't firewall or router. The router works fine so does the firewall. i can even host stuff on my other computers. |
