Hello everyone,

I created 404 & 403.php pages & then signed into the Abyss Console & added them & selected each page for the correct error code. But when I test it, it does not open the 403.php page I selected.

Any ideas why it's doing this?

I'm running X2 v2.3.2

Are you using IE? If so you need to disable friendly error pages in the options to see the custom ones Abyss serves up.

If not then check the configuration.

I have tested it with both IS 7 & Firefox & get the same result for 403 errors.

It displays a page that has the following content:

Error 403
Forbidden

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Powered by Abyss Web Server X2
© Aprelium Technologies - 2001-2006

Is this an Error page that comes with Abyss or where is it coming from?

The configuration seems to be straight forward unless I'm missing something. You create your pages then in the Configuration you add them to the Custom Error Page section.

Yes this is Abyss's default page. Check you configured the settings correctly as it should display the page you have selected.

Not a hell of a lot to check, the Status Code is 403, The Associated URL is /403.html (& tried /403.php) neither of them work.

Guess it is a part of Abyss that doesn't function right. It always did work until I upgraded to Abyss X2 2.xx

The 404 Status Code will work with /404.html but not with the 404.php file, just not worth the aggravation Abyss is giving me.

Are you sure you clicked "restart" after applying the changes?

Here are some troubles I've run into before.

First of all, your 403 and 404 pages are not forbidden to access, are they?
I once denied access to the directory that contained the error pages, and consequently always got the standard Abyss 403 error.

Secondly, since you're changing over to PHP, are other PHP scripts working properly?

Thirdly, make sure your error pages are printing at least 512 bytes to the browser. I know this makes IE happy.

Tip: try accessing the error pages directly through your browser. Does that work right? If not, that's a big clue.

Yes if I access them directly they work fine, just won't work through the Abyss Custon Scripts.

Whocares222,

It could be a problem with the configuration or with the scripts. Please send your abyss.conf file and your custom error script files to our technical support (do not forget to add a reference to that forum message).
