to start of with i dont have the file "robots.txt" and those I.Ps seem to be from the same area. Is this another way of a hack attempt? _________________ http://microbots.no-ip.com |

Dude don't worry at the end of that line were it says 404 means that no hacker can bypass that , they got a error 404 not found , and IIS web servers are the ones you have to worry about abyss is not a IIS web server , so everything is fine :D _________________ This web server is the best ! |

I don't know how they got robots.txt but maybe you had a file like that along time ago and deleted it and someone was about to view that old file and it does not exist any more  _________________ This web server is the best ! |

nope i just started using abyss. I've noticed a pattern :
Quote: | 209.237.238.163 - - [12/Apr/2003:01:05:58 +0100] "GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.0" 404 427
209.237.238.163 - - [12/Apr/2003:01:06:00 +0100] "GET /buffy.htm HTTP/1.0" 200 15587 |
Quote: | 209.237.238.172 - - [11/Apr/2003:23:08:02 +0100] "GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.0" 404 427
209.237.238.172 - - [11/Apr/2003:23:08:04 +0100] "GET /guestbook/ardguest.php?page=1 HTTP/1.0" 200 1810 |
every time they "GET robots.txt they get one of my pages could this be sumone that is direct linking to my pages? and also notice the similar I.Ps :? _________________ http://microbots.no-ip.com |

I believe a spider, possibly from a search engine is scanning your site. A robots.txt file instructs the spider on what to index and what not to index.
I can be slightly off and I am not sure to be honest but it can be any kind of spider scanning your site... It doesn't look malicous though if you ask me.
Do you have every other file in your last post? The only one you don't have is robots.txt? Doesn't look alarming. Search for robots.txt on Google as its a file with special instructions. Good luck :) _________________ Victor B. Gonzalez

Yeah that is not hacking your web server seeing stuff like
GET scripts/root%dir.exe/cmd
something like that above is hacking, but they still won't get in , in your case i found a web site on robots.txt and it is part of a search engine here's a link i found http://www.searchengineworld.com/robots/robots_tutorial.htm

Yeah the other two are my files but not the robot.txt
Thanks for the link. But is there a way of stopping it or should i leave it scan my site :?
Thanks for your help :) _________________ http://microbots.no-ip.com |

This might sound funny but in order to get rid of it I believe you need to enter into the robots.txt file "go away" and the spider will not index your site.
Its not exactly that easy... Read the link OS provided and if you really want to stop it, then go ahead... But, it might be interesting if it is a search engine to see where you land in the rankings...
Good luck :) _________________ Victor B. Gonzalez
