I'm using Abyss to utilize a web to news gateway. The exe and ini for Dnewsweb need to reside in \htdocs\dnewsweb\cgi-bin.

The path for user login is:

http://myserver.net/dnewsweb/cgi-bin/dnewsweb.exe?utag=&wild=&group=&cmd_login=Login

However I need to restrict them from backing up and accessing http://myserver.net/dnewsweb/cgi-bin which is of course in the login path. How do I do so without totally restricting them to the login?

Not having found a way to partially block the path w/o restricting login, I IP restricted the files in the cgi-bin I did not want accessed. Namely the .log and .ini files. Like this:

First I used: * to block IP's.

Then restricted them this way:
/*.log
/*.ini

LOL Well since you asked. I'm trying to set an alias such as

virtual path:
/dnewsweb/login

real path:
C:\Program Files\Abyss Web Server\htdocs\dnewsweb\cgi-bin\dnewsweb.exe

However using the alias brings up a download/open with box instead of the login page as it does from here:

http://myserver.net/dnewsweb/cgi-bin/dnewsweb.exe

Does my virtual path need to be expanded?

thanks, al
