My Abyss server was working just fine until my cable highspeed internet company decided to change my IP after 6 months of having it, Since they changed my IP nobody can access my website. Does Abyss has to be reinstalled after my IP was changed or not?

Another thing is my cable company OR cable modem doesn't support Loopback so i have to use proxies which is hard to find a good 1 in order for me to view my own webpage. Is there a way to turn on loopback or is that an hardware issue?

Thankx

Most routers do not support loopback by design. So ask its manufacturer about that feature availability or check its user manual.

If you have a domain name, here is a workaround to avoid using proxies when testing your site: Open with Notepad (or any text editor) the file:

C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (if you are using Windows NT, 2000, or XP Pro)
or
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (if you are using Windows XP Home or 2003)
or
C:\WINDOWS\hosts (if you are using Windows 95,98, or ME)

Add at the end of the file the line:

127.0.0.1 www.mysite.com

Save the file and browse http://www.mysite.com (of course, substitute www.mysite.com with your domain name).

yea thats what it was doing when i was trying. i just checked the statistics of the server and its still reading all zeros which means the internet is not getting to it.

i think my cable modem is faulty cuz my webcam wont connect on yahoo all the time and this problem didnt start until i got the wireless network modem, but they refuse to replace it!

It could be your wireless network is just not set up properly. Make sure you have the correct LAN IP, subnet mask, gateway, and 2 DNS servers entered correctly in the properties of the connection. Without them all you wont get any internet.

that was done and made matters worse to where my comcast network wasn't seein my computer, so i changed it back.

i got it working now, all i did was kept changing the ports to which i had the server on. it worked on port 80 before and just stopped all of a sudden, now it working on port 5190, the port aim uses.

as i've figured all along comcast network setup has a port problem!!!

i know this is off the subject but since i got it working now, does any1 know any software that will let me build a website with thumbnail pictures? somethin like an album.

THANKX
