I guess you can set the $ip to an array or whatever. That is, if you want multiple blocks.

The best way to block IP addresses and IP ranges on Abyss is to use a
firewall. (not having the use of .htaccess) Blocking with PHP (I'm not sure you can add a wild card to php on abyss?) or SSI only blocks static IP's not dynamic ones.

With a firewall? Is that possible? Do I need a special firewall to do this or what?

Well... I have Zone Alarm Pro and yes I can Block individual IP's, Domains, or IP Ranges. I don't believe you can do that with the free version...
But if you look around you might be able to find another that does.

I believe tiny personal firewall no longer goes by the same name. I believe it is now called Kerio personal firewall and is the firewall I currently use... I am using the latest beta version and it is awesome in comparison to ZoneAlarm... You can get it http://www.kerio.com

ZA was my first choice and I used it for over 2 years but it caused a conflict with my Bat email installation and once I made the switch I never looked back... Really is super nice... BTW, you might have to download the stable version and then go into its configuration and say remind me of beta updates to get the beta link...

You have to exit the firewall and then upon launching it again it will state a new beta is out for testing would you like to download it now? Say yes and you'll see how much they've changed it... Its XP themed and has a brilliant admin control interface compared to the stable 2.0 version...

I definately rate it 4 stars and think its pretty stable. Good luck :)

This will be my FINAL entry in this forum.
Because, as much as I enjoy the Abyss personal web server, I have grown tired of the kind of comments/reviews made by some of it's users...

It's seems to me that several amateur webmasters with very limited knowledge and understanding of PC's and IT in general, have very high opinions of themselves and they are quick to go with the OL' "been there done that" and "take it from me kid"
I think this arrogance and pretension is not very constructive to beginners who just want to learn and I'm really fed up with reading self praises from people who think they know there stuff just cause they have tried every piece of "freeware" on the market. Fact remains, that aside from trying to look smart in the beginners eye's, these so called armchair, forum "experts" do not bring very good OBJECTIVE opinions to forums and are merely trying to outsmart themselves...
So to the others out there who like most of us truly believe that you learn more from what you ear than what you say, I suggest that the pursuit of knowledge takes you to what WORKS for YOU and not what someone else thinks It's all about. That you should also try and try very hard to look at ALL angles of a problem (or solution) before passing your "expert opinion" publicly on a forum such as this one.

It has been my personal experience that those who take themselves the MOST seriously in this world are often the people who are indeed the LEAST. Of course some user's here really do know their stuff and It's up to you to sort them out.
So thanks Aprelium for a great Personal web server and for letting me have my little freedom of expression and adios...

In a sense I feel it was my post that ticked off tv2rob. If it was my post I apologize. I was curious as to why tv2rob left such a steamy post and I think I got the idea... I went through all answers again and found tv2robs answer is "I have Zone Alarm Pro..." and I said in regards to Kerio personal firewall "I am using the latest beta version and it is awesome in comparison to ZoneAlarm..."

A step back and a tilt of the head would make me look childish. Something like ooh, ooh mines is better... Well tv2rob is correct. It really is *just* my opinion and who ever wishes to try a firewall out should maybe try them both and even others to get the full picture.

tv2rob, believe it or not I didn't even read your post about ZoneAlarm until after you made your steamy post. The reason why I skipped your answer is simple. The question asked on the thread is "blocking a ip" and I do not know how to block an IP using a script or Abyss only... So naturally I scrolled to the bottom to see one of 2 things... Heres another solution or hey I got it answered... If it was hey I got it answered I would've scrolled back up to check it out... But, the last post was in regards to tiny personal firewall and the author stated it was no longer in production...

The truth is it is still in production but under a new name. I blabbered about it and then made the comparison which probably broke the camels back... I am sorry but I didn't read up on your answer and didn't even know ZoneAlarm was mentioned in this thread...

In the end both firewalls are great. My post was only an opinion in regards to Kerio and nothing more. It is not better for everyone but because I tried both and got stuck with Kerio I spoke about it with no real respect to what ZA deserves...

I don't wish to go further about it but need to say I apologize. I am human too and I make mistakes. I learned a few things from this incident and hopefully it doesn't happen again.
