Here is a program that you can download... It is called Keep My IP. For those of you who use your ip as a domain, like me, this can be helpful. As long as the computer running Abyss is on and this program is running, your IP won't change. The program runs in the background - when you click on the icon, no control console or program opens. Insteads, it just executes itself without any annoying windows popping up. It is not spyware or adware. It starts automatically when you start your computer.

This is pointless anyway because a dynamic IP will eventually change anyway, no matter what you do to keep it. Only cable modem dynamic IP's are likely to be the same for the longest, I know this, I had the same IP for 10 months then a powercut caused it to change.

Acctually, I Im almost sure if you have broadband in the US you can set yourself up with a static IP, although its proabably against the ISP TOS (Im like 1% sure that, thats true). And if you have SBC DSL then you can set a DHCP release time, so you can keep it for 5 days, or 1 year. But, if you have a dynamic IP package and the power goes out then your IP will change. But if you hook it up to a battery backup, like I did. It will almost never change. XD.

Its a good idea, hey it may work it may not work.

...or not. lol.

Thats the idea I had, hook it up to my UPS when I get it and never lose the IP. Not that it matters because my No-IP domain is set in the DNS records so I never have to change anything. I just need to make sure the no-ip client is running.

4$! Where do you live!? WOW and you get 4 dynamic!? WTF What ISP is that!? Most ISPs in IL charge at least 20$ more for 1 static, at thats all you get. So that would come out to be a 60-80$/month bill.

I live in Sweden and my ISP is Bredbandsbolaget (The broadband company).

I pay about $30 for 24 mbit/s down and 1 mbit/s up. I usually get 5 dynamic IP-adresses, but can make 1 static for about $4 a month.

You can get 100 mbit/s in both up- and download för about $60 if you live in the city.

jaw drops to floor!!!

thanks to BT the highest speed we can get from the internet is 4Mb/s, including cable.
but by using an unbundled loop, meaning its not in BTs contol, an amazing 8Mb/s has been reached, ukonline and bulldog are currently the only two, and that's only available by using isdn (phone line)
and the price is close to £30 a month (about 15 us$)
