Does anyone know where I can find a free domain in which I won't be bombarded with ads? I tried the .tk thing, or whatever it is, and didn't have much luck with it. I will use it as a last resort, though.
I ran a search for it, but it canme back with about 1,500 results, and I got tired after the first 400. |

www.no-ip.com
No-ip has a smal ad if you use the port-forwarding and regular "redirect"-forwarding. But if you run your own server, you can create an A record with No-IP, and you wont have any ads.
I use a few adressed on my server:
cmx.winxtreme.se
talk.servecounterstrike.com
wxserver.no-ip.com
wxserver.no-ip.biz
dc.jesper.nu
acidsoft.net
irena.se

| Thank you - I'm looking for both - although I knew there was a slight chance of getting a free real domain ;), I knew there are some (akmost crazy) offers out there. I'll keep track of those. |

You can get a .co.uk domain for £4.80 for 2 years with www.lycos.co.uk. If you decide to buy one, PM me and I will send you an affilate code to get you 15% off the price.
(.com, .net domains are £11.99 for 1 year)

If your not prepared to use a free sub domain, or a .tk domain then you have no chose but to pay. 1&1 offers some very good prices on domain names, and their support is excellent. .uk names £1.99, .com names £8.99 both per year.

Current regualtions say that you HAVE to pay a fee to have a domain registered. There is no way, as of today, to get a domain 100% free. However, there was this one site like freeipods.com, where you can do an offer or 2 and theyll register a domain for you. Even then it costed you money.
If you think about it .co.uk is a domain, not a subdomain, or at least thats what they advertise.
http://freedns.afraid.org is your best bet. They have tons of domains where you can create a subdomain for free. And best of all, theres no ads, popups, nothing.

| For what a domain costs nowadays you might as well buy one and manage the dns free at www.zonedit.com, you can even run ftp http and your own mail server easily |
